Here were my kitchen window curtains for Fall…(You can find the tutorial for the painted mum window panels here)
And now winter simplicity… I took a pair of swiss dot IKEA sheers (I found them for $1 a panel two years ago & literally bought 20 of them, so far I’ve gone through about 1/2 my stash) & cut them to the length of my old panels that I had sewn. I think I’m going to use the leftovers to make a frou frou skirt for Samster…we’ll see.Next I used Heat N Bond to attach a pretty silver/blue ribbon across the top hemline.Took all of 20 minutes during naptime & wah-lah! A quick but nice seasonal update.
Here’s what else I got done today for the Samster household Christmas decorations…I didn’t quite get around to putting pictures in the stocking frames. I am also torn as to how to put our names on the stockings. I don’t feel like paying to get them embroidered, I’m not sure how well applique would look on velvet…not to mention cutting pretty script letters out of fabric sounds miserable. Maybe freehand with fabric paint? Any ideas? I really don’t want to mess them up because I lusted after them from Pottery Barn last year & scooped them up after Christmas for 70% off. That was a GOOD day.
Here’s my other question for you guys…we scored tickets to the National Christmas Tree Lighting tomorrow night at the White House. Pretty amazing, right? Bad news is it’s going to be in the 30’s & possibly rainy. And it’s a 3hr long outside event. Brrrr. How do I bundle up Samster so she’ll stay warm? Keep in mind we’ll also be carrying her in a backpack so she can’t have a giant puffy coat on. I normally wouldn’t take her out in the cold for prolonged periods at night but I feel like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, no? I still consider myself a Florida girl even though we’ve been in D.C. for 3 years so any advice from you snowbirds would be much appreciated! I did buy this Colombia fleece bodysuit off the clearance rack at Nordstrom today but I’m not sure what she wears under it…
