Man oh man, it used to be I’d get a cold, maybe take a day or two off of work if it was really bad and be good as new. Boy has that changed since having a baby!
So two Sundays ago P and I ate at this really great sushi restaurant but later that night he got what we thought was food poisoning. Without getting into too much detail let’s just say it was everything you would imagine would happen with food poisoning. We thought that would be it and it would clear up in 24hrs until the next day when Sam came down with it. Obviously Sam isn’t enjoying any sushi rolls yet so we felt pretty sure it must be a bug. I spent the next week cleaning up blowout diapers 24/7. She went to the Dr twice and I guess when babies get stomach bugs the diarrhea can last for weeks! One day I changed her clothes 12 times in 24 hrs.TWELVE!
That was 2 weeks ago, last week just as I thought Sam was getting back to normal I wake up and feel like a train has run over me. I tried to just muster through it for a few days but P finally made me go to the Dr. Good thing too, turns out I had Bronchitis and wasn’t really getting any oxygen to my lungs. Lovely. The funniest part is he asked why I hadn’t noticed that I was wheezing whenever I did anything strenuous. Apparently I’ve gotten so used to running around thinking about 10 things that I need to do at once that I didn’t even realize I wasn’t breathing! I’d like to say that’s just how darn dedicated of a mom I am but honestly I think it was more due to delirium.
That brings us to today, having a sick kid and getting sick myself has REALLY thrown me for a loop. We’ve eaten more takeout than I’d like to admit, P has had to wear some of his way too big & old clothes from the back of the closet because I haven’t done laundry & I haven’t shaved my legs in an embarrassingly long amount of time BUT I think this week with be one of reconciliation.
Time to get back on the horse & wrestle that bull of motherhood!
Hmm, perhaps the delirium is still lingering.
