That was our weekend. It started off with a big pot of homemade spaghetti & meatballs which was DELISH! I’m going to post the recipe tomorrow. I know, I know, I’m actually posting recipes again! That’s because I’m actually COOKING again. I’ve felt really really good lately, finally I recognize my old self again. It’s quite nice, I missed her.
So anyway, the weekend started off great on Friday night with a super yummy homecooked dinner and then on Saturday I had so much energy from Sam sleeping through the night (AGAIN! Knock, knock on wood) that I was able to finish painting her room, (as soon as I get a shelf up it will be officially done and I’ll post before/after pics) & got started on my very exciting livingroom project!
Here is the problem:
One very blank wall since we moved our furniture after finally getting the TV mounted on the wall. (Goodbye ghetto TV stand!) My idea is to take a bunch of frames and spray paint them all one nice bright color and then put our favorite black & white photos in each. We also have these PB frame shelves made out of white molding that were a wedding present and have sadly been sitting in our garage just waiting for the day when we had a wall space big enough for them.
I bought a bunch of random clearance rack mismatched frames from the Home Goods store & started off painting them yellow but the color just didn’t go with the rest of livingroom. P recommended blue so I dug out some leftover blue paint and tried that but it was too light. Sigh.
FINALLY yesterday afternoon I found the perfect blue/teal color at Lowe’s and I swear I heard angel’s singing. I LOVE IT! I layered on the bug spray and got to work on the frames in the yard until it got dark. Since the color I loved only came in high gloss I also had to apply a clear satin spray to get them nice & matte. All in all it was about 6 coats when you consider all the bug bodies I had to pick out & smooth over with more paint.
That brings us to today. And the fever.
This morning Sam slept in until 7a, which is totally awesome, but the weird thing is then P brought her to bed and she went back to sleep until 8a! She was SUPER cuddly too, we thought she just really loved us and had finally gained our passion for sleeping in on Sundays. But now we know the truth, those were all just warning signs that a storm was a brewin’.
By 2pm her mood had gone from cuddly to miserable and she spiked a fever of 103.8! Since then I’ve had to hold her non-stop, (including sitting in a lukewarm shower with her, she actually fell asleep in the shower while laying on me! Poor kid.) and have been going back and forth between drugging her with Infant’s Tylenol & Motrin. It seems to be keeping the fever low grade although as soon as it wears off man does she let you know! And that little body just starts cranking up the heat…I can literally feel the heat off the top of her head. I think the saddest thing I’ve ever experienced is every time her fever comes back she gets the chills and curls up on top of me and just shivers. I swear I had to fight back the tears, put on my big girl panties and be “the mom.”
I spoke with the pediatrician and there is a bug going around that gives kids a high fever for 2 days but just to be safe we’ll head in first thing tomorrow.
The scary part is I actually ran into a friend of mine this afternoon who I haven’t seen in awhile but hangs out with the same moms & kids that Sam and I do. She said that her husband found out this morning that he has swine flu!!! Can you believe that?! She was taking her youngest to the urgent care center when I saw her because he had a fever & cough. Scary. I tried not to breathe in too deep & only inhaled in the opposite direction of her to avoid contamination. Hopefully she didn’t take it the wrong way.
So that’s our weekend, frames are sitting on the floor and will have to wait for another day to be hung but at least they got started, right? I honestly don’t even care at this point, I just want my little Samster to be her old spunky self again. Oh the worry of being a mommy, I’m guessing it never goes away…
