Cute and Comfy – Mommy Outfit

by Natasha on October 7, 2009 in mommy outfit

Flannel Tunic – Miley – $14
Leggings – Gap – $19.50
Ballet Flats – old school ones I’ve had…

This might make me a bit shallow to say but it’s the truth so I’ll put it out there anyway, one downside of being a SAHM is you don’t get to wear cute clothes too often. Yes, yes, the joys of raising my spawn are obviously more rewarding than a killer new outfit but sometimes I do miss getting dressed for work in the morning. The excitement of that perfect outfit that boosts your confidence tens times over ’cause you KNOW you look goooood!

I’m sure plenty of you other mommies must feel the same way so I decided that when I come across an outfit that’s easy to wear, inexpensive, cute but most importantly comfortable enough to run all over town in & throw a screaming toddler over your shoulder without exposing anything (that was the LAST time I wore an above the knee skirt) that I would share the love and post it here. Do you guys read Love, Maegan? I SO envy the awesome attire she gets to sport and vicariously live through her “gratuitous outfit posts” so this is kind of my stay at home mom version. Not too glam but a way to feel cute and avoid the sweatpants and tshirt rut.
So what you do think? Would you be interested in seeing this type of post again??

I know exactly what you mean! It is SO easy to get stuck in a fashion rut! I love this post, and I think I will be going to Wal-mart tomorrow 🙂 You look SUPER cute!

Almost everyday I get up, look through my closet, pick some cute, stylish outfit, lay it on the bed, come back after cleaning up the breakfast dishes, and put it right back in my closet. Totally get it.

Im sure someday soon (Sometime just before Christmas, so my doc tells me) I'll be right on the same bandwagon with you. But even without my own little one, I get stuck in a fashion rut. I wear the same out fit to work, day in and day out. And believe me when I say it is less than flattering!

I've just discovered 'Love Megan'. And I am thrilled to see that you'll be doing a more 'realistic' approach to fashion. (Realistic by my never-really-been-a-haut-couture-model standards)

Your site keeps getting better and better! It's one of my favourite morning reads!

yes please! I love your outfit, but I ma a little sad that I can't rush out and buy it! I would have to take a plane! Although you have given me a good idea for an outfit that I already have, I just never thought of teaming it with leggings! Thanks xx

I just bought the Miley your wearing in black and yellow, to support my two favorite football teams, Iowa Hawkeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers. I wear it leggings and black flats.
What's scary it that is the exact same type of outfit I wore in HS.
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only stuck in the Mommy Clothes Rut!

Cute outfit! I love the ballet flats. I'm not a SAHM and I barely dress up for work. I think it has more to do with me not being happy with my size than anything else. And the weekends I am totally a jeans and t-shirt gal. Even when we go out to dinner (to a regular restaurant) I try to dress it up by wearing a black t-shirt! LOL! And I still wear my college sweatshirts. I still dress like a college gal. One of these days I'll start dressing like a grown up. Just don't know when that's going to happen.

You both look adorable!!! You should go take a look on forever21.com. They sell leggings for 7.50, headbands and other hair things for like 2 or 3 dollars. Shirts and dresses mostly all under 20, some 25 to 30. Its the best and you would have fun sewing or cutting and adding to their cute stuff!

Love it! That tunic is so cute. I would love more posts like this. Sometimes I am in sweats for most of the day, okay, sometimes all day! I love going out because I actually get to wear my cute clothes. Thanks for the post!

Oh I love, love, love this!! I don't know why, but I get such a kick out of seeing what other people are wearing. And you are the cutest person ever! I have to admit, I'm a little jealous, 'cause I know I could not pull off that outfit.

P.S. Thanks for the baby legs tutorial link! I'm excited to try it!
