Divasaurus

by Natasha on September 22, 2009 in freezer paper stenciling, tutorials

She’s sassy, she’s green & she’s extinct. But man, did she have a good fashion sense!

I’m totally addicted to freezer paper stenciling, it looks like professional screenprinting right at home. All you do is cut out the stencil from freezer paper, iron it on waxy side down, fill in with some fabric paint & once it’s dry peel it away to see your great design. For each color just use a different stencil and work in layers being sure to let each dry completely before adding the next.
Below are the stencils for ‘Divasaurus‘, have fun and be careful…she bites.

This is adorable! I want to make one for my niece, but the stencil doesn't enlarge when I click on the picture. I'm sure it's just my computer, but is there any way you could e-mail it to me? rotheroni@gmail.com

ok, stupid question….is freezer paper the same thing as wax paper? and if not where can I find it???

Hi Stacey, not a dumb question at all!

No it's not the same as wax paper. At least I'm pretty sure it's not…

It's called "Freezer Paper", mine is by Reynold's (like the foil, or plastic wrap) & I found it at the grocery store in the food storage area.

    Good luck!

I just happened to find your site the other day and I have to say that I am in love with all your projects!!! Ive already made the fabric flower…I had tons of scraps left over from making dresses for my daughter but I didnt have any tulle…so I searched the house for something I could use instead…I ended up using already used dryer sheets, and it came out awesome!!! It smells really good too!! lol anyways I want to make this t-shirt, but I dont have any freezer paper…I have wax, and parchment paper…which would u suggest? is there anything else I could use to make the stencil?

Yay! I’m so glad you like the site! And a dryer sheet, what a fabulous idea! Major kudos.

As for the stencil I’m not too sure you can use wax or parchment paper. I def. don’t think parchment paper because it doesn’t have a waxy back. With the freezer paper it’s papery on one side & waxy on the other, when you iron on the paper side the wax side adheres to the fabric making a seal for the stencil. Wax paper might melt to your iron so I’d try that at your own risk! Sorry I couldn’t be of more help ):
