Fall Festivities

by Natasha on September 9, 2009 in diy wreath, fall wreath, tutorials

Here in D.C. it’s been quite a bit chillier than usual & I think that’s what got the Autumn bug under my skin this morning. I felt the overwhelming desire to make a wreath. I can honestly say that has never happened to me before. Perhaps it comes along with motherhood…you suddenly feel the need to hang a seasonally appropriate item on your door…
Whatever the reason I really wanted to make one that wasn’t cheesy & was more of the Crate & Barrel/Pottery Barn style. (without the $80 pricetag of course)

Here’s what I came up with, you like?
I’m so mad at my camera, out of a dozen pics this is the best it could do. I think it’s time for a new one…too much baby spit in this one.

Making a wreath was actually really fun & easy, here’s what you need for the Autumn one above:

Stick wreath
Hot glue gun & gluesticks
Silk flowers, branches, beaded garland and anything else at the craft store that you want to stick on there! I found a box of plastic acorns and glittered them for a little sparkle…
Ribbon

The pictures below will show you how I added everything on in stages, to attach items I either stuck them in the branches &/or used hot glue.

That’s it! Now tell me, how long do I have to wait to hang this on my front door? Is mid-september too soon?

I just might have to steal this idea. Where do you shop? Michael's? Hobby Lobby?

I love making my wreaths, too! Way cheaper and they turn out to be exactly my taste!

Oooh.. thats very pretty, and rather inspiring! I might just have to pull out some wreath making materials myself!

Thanks for the tut! I think I'll play around with this on the weekend.

So pretty! I wish it would cool down here and I could start smelling the sweet smell of Fall and fireplaces warming up cozy living rooms. Maybe next month right? I absolutely love fall. We used to live in VA and I remember how beautiful this time of year used to be. I am envious!!
