Happy Halloween Samster!

by Natasha on November 1, 2009 in Uncategorized

I was hoping today would be nice & relaxing but with boob school all week & Sam & I leaving for Tampa tomorrow today was anything but relaxing. We did have some fun though…
Somehow I conned P into running my errands with me. Lucky me he didn’t ask where we were going. I believe his exact words when I told him we were going to Target, Baby Store & JoAnn’s were, “Aw man! How did I get stuck on the va-jay-jay route?!”
1st stop Target…

Sam LOVES to kiss & hug whatever you give her. In fact she insists that she 1st hugs whatever you get before it is allowed in the cart. Here she’s canoodling with the Listerine.
Next we went to the baby store & Sam found this little shopping cart toy they had out on display. Man did she ever zero right in on that thing! This just goes to show that shopping is an innate gene & cannot be helped.

Funny thing is P is so mr. budget & the last thing Sam needs is another toy but guess who got completely suckered into her cuteness tornado & happily whipped out the credit card to bring home the toy Du joir?? Yep. You guessed it. Got daddy all sorts of wrapped up around those little pinkies! At least with this toy I think it’s one she’ll keep for awhile, I can just see her playing pretend grocery shopping for cute felt food & then wheeling it over to her little pink kitchen that Santa might be bringing. LOVE having a little girl.
After that P was wiped out so I let him & Samster wait in the car while I ran in JoAnn’s. I needed stuffing for Sam’s “Crazy Octopus” halloween costume that I was making ON HALLOWEEN DAY! Sheesh.
But before I get to the costume look at the munchkin at lunch…we played the 1st half of the day dangerously close to naptime. In fact I’m surprised we didn’t witness a meltdown or two…

So back to the costume fiasco. I had bought a pattern & the fabric to make Sam a doggie costume. She’s obsessed with them so I thought she’d get a kick out seeing herself dressed as one. Problem was I had boob school everyday last week & I literally left before she woke up & got home right before bedtime EVERY SINGLE DAY. (once again, kudos to you working moms)

The doggie costume kept getting put off & off & off until before I knew it, it’s Halloween Eve, 9pm, & no costume. That’s when this tutorial SAVED MY HEINIE. Isn’t it the best idea?! I wish I could take credit for it, Sam was the most fabulous, cute CRAZY OCTOPUS ever!
Honestly, this took less than an hour to make. I followed the tutorial for everything except I did felt “suckers” & made her hat out of fleece.

(back view so you can see her “tentacle tights”)

The whole Samster Family. Little crazy octopus, cowgirl (aka too busy with everyone else’s costume to make my own) & Billy Mays. Yes, he did. Which I actually thought was pretty clever but for some reason most of the people at the neighborhood Halloween party had no clue who he was. What do you think? Would you have known what he was supposed to be?

Aw, I can tell who he is, which makes me miss the poor guy. I think I must have known him in a previous life bc I've always loved him. Billy Mays, not your husband, although I'm sure he is just as endearing. I love your little crazy octopus girl. Definitely on the list for next year. (I have 4, FOUR children. It amazes me daily.) Anyhoo, lovely to meet you and your gorgeous family. New follower! (sounds cultish)

My husband is in love with that costume. When I tell him to come take a look at something when I'm on the computer he usually knows that its a new girly tutorial that I want to do and he's such a nice guy that he indulges me without being really interested but when he saw your husband he thought it was the coolest costume ever! He even showed his buddy that was over (a big compliment indeed!) Your family is adorable and Sam's shopping cart is so cute!

Wow, that is some jam packed Halloween day, and I thought mine was busy! Love the octopus costume, really so darn cute. Totally knew it was Billy Mays. Who else walks around with a beard and a bottle of oxy clean? Did he talk really loud all night too?
