Iron On Onesie

by Natasha on May 24, 2011 in fabric paint onesie, iron on onesie, iron on transfers, tutorials

You guys know I love fabric paint & freezer paper stenciling but sometimes I forget how darn easy it is just to use printable iron-on paper…
My girlfriend just had a sweetpea of a little girl & named her Finley. I’m absolutely smitten with the name so I thought I’d stick it on a onesie for her…
1st I created the image in Picnik using stickers. Then I hit the “flip” button & made the image appear backwards
(Ok, fine. 1st I printed it out backwards, cursed under my breath & went back & flipped the image. Sheesh. Are you happy?)

Print it out on the transfer paper, iron it on the onesie & it’s actually pretty cute just like that but I smudged the image a bit (I didn’t iron it long enough) so I added embroidery around the edges. Sometimes mistakes are awesome because I absolutely love it with the stitches!

Next time you’re doing an applique clothing item try adhering some light-weight fusible interfacing to the inside. How pro does that look? It’s also super soft & protects the stitchwork from getting snagged.Finley also has an awesome big brother who’s Sam’s buddy so I thought I’d print something out for him too…
(Note to all new baby gift givers: A small something for the older siblings goes a lonnnng way for keeping the peace)
And while I was running my own personal t-shirt factory I figured who not make a “painted jeweled onesie” for Sophster.

I too love the name Finley and its on my list, but not my husbands 🙁

Although, thats probably a good thing because with all your readers, the name is sure to shoot up on the top 100 list and those are the names im trying to avoid!

    Anyway, they turned out adorable!

Those are wonderful! I love her name. I was really set on naming our second daughter that, but my husband vetoed it. 🙁

Brianna- They're from Target! They're the Circo brand and come in a pack of three with aqua, peach & white. They're really nice quality too!

So I'm not a mom- yet, but I just LOVE your blog. You crack me up and I can't get enough of your adorable crafts and kids! I read your whole blog (from 2009-today)- work is pretty slow! 🙂 After I check my email in the morning, I can't wait to see if you've posted a new entry!

O and I will definitely be doing these iron on shirts for myself, and some upcoming birthday presents!!

Thanks for being my comical relief while I'm stuck at work!!
