Nursery Makeover

by Natasha on September 23, 2009 in nursery makeover, nursery-decorating

Finally!!! Yes, she may be a toddler so I don’t know if it’s even technically a “nursery” anymore but whatever, her dog-park themed “room” is done!
Before:

After:

You likey? The DIY window valance tutorial is here
Circle wall letters and fabric bookshelf link can be found on this post
I hand-painted all the wall murals, they’re based on a pair of Gymboree pajamas that Samster had with the cutest little dogs all over them. That ruffled pillow? It’s extra fabric from my PB window panels that were too long…don’t you just love it! I used basic ruffling instructions that can be found here.
I WISH WISH WISH I had a before picture of this dresser, it was the ugliest brown with big brass knobs and handles. I used 3 different pink paints and glass knobs from target to make what is definitely my favorite piece in the house! Also the ‘bow board’ post can be found here.
The bowl was handmade by my sister for Sam and the picture frame & mat I covered in fabric using a pair of scissors, some hot glue and a bunch of Mod Podge.
Bird mobile was bought from PB before I knew how easy it would’ve been to make, ah well…
Funny thing…this Andy Warhol print of a cat named “Sam” is something we bought a good year before getting preggers. To make it mesh with the room I painted the mat the same color pink I used on the circle wall letters.
I just love the way my Mod Podge fabric bookshelf turned out. I used the same two Amy Butler prints throughout the nursery. (BTW, that’s the Brookstone sound machine, the white noise setting is a MUST for anyone with a baby. It goes everywhere with us!)
SOooooo, what do ya think? Did I do good??

Lovely!!!! I still have Phoenix's room to finish that we started in MARCH when we moved in. Gosh! We are total procrastinators. The major things have been done and I thought I was ready to "unveil" it to my blog world, but then we decided he was ready for a tot bed and now we are making one! So who knows when it'll finally be ready to share! Probably when he's off to college and we are redoing it and turning into a "naked room" like on Failure to Launch. LOL

But great job! I'm totally stealing the valance idea and shelf!

Amazing! Love it all. I really want to try something with the ruffles you have done on the pillow, tanks, etc. Super cute! I love her dresser! I have been on the hunt for a cheap cool looking dresser that can be painted from a thrift store.

That is too cute! I absolutely adore all of the hand painted dogs! What a talent you have. The ruffle pillow is adorable and the dresser is perfect. I repainted a bookshelf for my little girls room and it is cream and pink. I'll post pictures when I am finally done with her room. I wish I had more time to work on it.

Very very nice. Very good color scheme! Pink is my favorite color as I am sure you remember from my wedding 🙂 I hope I have as much talent as you when I have a kid and want to decorate their room. Great work!

Beautiful. Soothing colors. Love the prints.
And I think "Sam" was definitely calling out to you that you two would be great parents. The signs were there before you became "preggers".
    Clearly, Sam picked you!

    Enjoy!

That is a beautiful room!! You have talent. I can't draw people, I still draw stick figures, let alone figure out how to free hand all those cute walls.
    Good job!

This is fantastic! You really have an eye for color. Not just here, but throughout your entire home. Great work! I hope you the husband appreciates it 😉

Did you paint the ADORABLE pink chest of drawers with acrylic? How did you hang the bookshelf? It really does just look amazing!

Once again, thank you for all of your wonderful, surprisingly inexpensive yet very luxuriously-looking decorating ideas!
