Recipe Review: "Everyday Italian"

by Natasha on November 25, 2009 in recipe review

Giada’s Everyday Italian

After my first recipe review wasn’t too successful I was a little skeptical going into this one. The first dish was Verdure al Forno & oh my cheesy goodness was it amazing! Next I made the grilled tuna steaks with Giada’s pesto recipe & wild mushroom risotto…HEAVENLY! The last recipe P actually tried because I was out of commission. (A weed wacker fell on my head in the garage…another story for another blog post) He made Giada’s “Tin Foil Salmon” & I’ll let him tell you what he thought…

“I love making things that are easy but make it look like I actually know what I’m doing…
I wish I would’ve had this cookbook when I was single, I would’ve gotten more a** then John Mayer”
-P (Samster Daddy)

Well said my dear, well said. From the eatee point of view I can say that the salmon was AMAAAAZING & I’m super picky about my fish. If it taste fishy at all I won’t eat it. With this recipe you put the filets inside a foil packet and top them with a mix of diced tomatoes, fresh garlic & onion, oregano & I think a few other pieces of goodness, fold up the foil packet, bake for 25 minutes and you’re done. SO. GOOD.

As you’ve probably already guessed this cookbook is getting a two thumbs up A+ review. I can guarantee it’s going to be a staple in my kitchen for everything from quick family dinners to impressive company get-togethers! Oh man, now I’m hungry after writing this!

(Note- If you’d like to purchase the cookbook online you can use the link above & the nice peeps at Amazon will give Samster Mommy a lovely commission of 4% to go towards her craft addiction.)

I have been cooking since I was about 12 or 13, and so I have accumulated a VERY large collection of cookbooks – I think it's what people always want to give me for occasions. 🙂 BUT, the ones that I really really want – like this Giada staple! – have eluded me for the past couple of years. Thanks for the review on it – I'll have to be sure to snag it soon!

You know…I have had this cookbook for over a year or so and have never tried any of the recipes even though I am a pasta/italian food addict. After reading your reviews, it gave me the kick in the but I needed to actually crack this book open and try it out. I think I am going to start with the Verdure al Forno!

Thanks for the review. Our local library actually has a copy, so I'm going to check it out and try out some recipes. If I decide to buy, I'll come back here for your link:)

I made this quite awhile ago for my husband. (We're talking years ago!) The feedback-he LOVED it! Good for your hubby to try this recipe. It is super easy.
