Tshirt Dress

by Natasha on September 30, 2009 in baby dress pattern, easy baby pattern, tshirt refashion, tutorials

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress!!! Thank you so much to Ashley at Lil Blue Boo for inspiring me to make this, she’s been doing tons of great tshirt refashions and if you want to make your own you can pick up a pattern for the ‘Sienna Dress’ from her site.
I suck at reading patterns so I just kind of winged it but I’m so happy with the end result!
Here’s the backview, it was a little plain so I did some butterfly freezer paper stenciling…
I made the dress from 4 different women’s shirts/dresses, I got them each at Old Navy for around $2.50! They have a deal right now where you take an extra 50% off of all women’s clearance. It’s a great opportunity to score some pieces for refashioning. (Tip- buy the biggest size you can find so you’ll have leftovers, you can easily get 2 or more dresses from one set of XXL pieces.)
We gave it a test drive today at My Gym, I’d say it held it’s own pretty darn well. I love the way it looks with tights & these mary janes.

(by the way Sam spent the majority of her my gym class trying to go UP the slide, she is unbelievably stubborn. Hmm, I can hear P now asking where she gets that from?)

You should also look at Goodwill or local thrift stores when you are looking for clothing you plan to cut up. You can get some unique prints and materials, the shirts are super cheap, and you'll be helping the environment by re-using!

You know, the front of the dress is cute…but the way the butterflies seem to just float up her side, on the back? A.DOR.A.BLE! You've got a great eye for accessorizing, mama!

I almost think the back is cuter than the front. Love all those butterflies!!! SO cute!

I LOVE this … and just about everything you post! Also, i love your "looking for something to do?" post… I'd love to see your to do list. I make just about everything you make for yourself and your house, but without a little girl to deck out in adorable clothing (maybe someday…) i'm always looking for stuff to do on those in-between days times…
