The tutu is made of 1 & 1/2 yards of ice blue iridescent nylon netting & 80″ of 1″ wide grosgrain ribbon. You can find the directions for how to fold & stitch the tutu here, it’s a Martha Stewart video tutorial that’s really good so I’m not gonna bother with writing the directions for that part. She stuffed spiders in orange tulle but in the glittery wintry spirit I decided to make sparkly snowflakes. You won’t believe how easy they were, & I wish the pictures could show the sparkle the snowflakes make when Parker shakes his furry little butt, you’ll just have to trust me. That kind of magic can’t be captured on film.
On to the glitter…
In Michael’s they have their kid’s Christmas crafts on display in the center aisle, grab yourself a pack of the foam snowflakes that have adhesive backing. They’re 50% off right now too, woohoo! You’ll also need your trusty MS glitter, I used “aquamarine crystal”.
Take the backs off the snowflakes & lay them out sticky side up on a paper plate.
Sprinkle really well with glitter…Then to make sure they’re completely covered slide everything on the plate into a baggie, seal it, & shake it, shake it, shake it like a salt shakah. Snip the corner off the bottom & you’ll be able to funnel the excess glitter back into the bottle. Give it a few shakes to get out every last bit.Pull your newly glittered snowflakes out & give them a good “Oooo” “Ahhh”
